Safeguarding Information for Parents

Safeguarding Information for Parents
Tracey Bell

As we enter the summer holiday period, we know that some of the vital safeguarding support that schools, colleges and other education institutions provide to young people falls away for several weeks. This, coupled with a worrying increase in the number of young people we’re seeing being drawn into violent extremism and terrorism means that we are keen for parents, family and friends of young people to be aware of, and look out for any signs that a young person may be at risk of radicalisation and know how to seek help should they need to.

Please take a minute to read the attached letters which will raise awareness of the dangers of radicalisation and to show parents where to go to get more information, advice and support if they do have any concerns. The corresponding information leaflet provides a summary about the Prevent programme and how, through the ACT Early website and Support Line, those who are vulnerable to radicalisation can get the help they may need.
