Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Music

Intent

Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high quality music education engages and inspires pupils to develop a love of music. It develops their talent as musicians and so increases their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. Through the Charanga programme and practical Taiko lessons, the children have chances to develop their understanding, make musical judgements and apply their new learning. Children develop their aural memory, express themselves physically, emotionally and through discussion. They also have opportunities to create their own musical ideas. Music can lead to better brain development, increases in human connection, and even stress relief. Music enables us to break cycles, give every child every chance and make links with our community. Every child at Nunsthorpe is given opportunities to entertain and perform to, and with the wider community.
