Attendance and Punctuality
In September 2015, the government changed the threshold for persistent absence from 85% to 90%.
90% attendance= 19 days a year missed or a day off every 2 weeks
As schools are challenged by the government to address the problem of persistent absence, the government has strengthened their ability to respond by increasing Fixed Penalty Notices (fines) to £60 if paid within 21 days and £120 if paid between 21 and 28 days.
There will be earlier intervention from school and more communication if attendance becomes a concern. Your child be identified as a persistent absence during the year if they are absent the following amounts:

We understand that there will be times when a pupil will require time off school. It is the schools decision whether this is authorised or not.
Please note that we now require medical evidence for all illness absence over 3 days.
Keep to a minimum the amount of time your child is off with illness, it is OK to return on a Friday.
